What are the areas of application of surfactants?

The tanning process is quite complicated and tedious, from bare hide to finished leather needs to go through many processes. Surfactants are used as additives in all the processes to promote the physical and chemical effects and processes of each process, shorten the production cycle, improve the quality of the leather and save chemical raw materials.

Fur processing also requires multiple processes. Leather must be removed from the animal hair, and fur processing is required as far as possible not to damage the original structure of the hair, the use of surfactants can play a good role in protecting.

In leather production and fur processing, surfactants have a variety of major roles, including solubilization, emulsification, wetting, penetration, foaming, defoaming, washing, leveling and color fixing. The requirements for surfactants vary from process to process. For example, in the immersion process, surfactants are mainly needed to play the role of wetting and penetration; while in the degreasing process, surfactants are needed to achieve the effects of emulsification, wetting and penetration. In the decontamination process, surfactants are needed to have good solubilizing effect. In the dyeing process, surfactants are required to have good diffusion, penetration and foaming properties. In the process of greasing, surfactants are required to have good emulsifying ability.
